Introduction: Inspiring Lives
The nine people profiled share a passion for improving the health and wellness of some of the world’s poorest citizens.The selection ranges from an as-yet-unknown graduate student who has already impacted the curriculum and begun mobilizing young scientists and doctors, to a former president and first lady who have devoted decades to their cause. The nine are tied together by clarity of purpose, by strength and determination, by humility and by an obvious joy in their interactions with others less fortunate than themselves.
These inspiring lives are a small sampling of many, many heroes of global health, sung and unsung, who are working around the world today.
