Introduction: One World, Many Lives
A look at global health through the eyes of the world’s most vulnerable inhabitantsDepicting the big picture of global health requires high-altitude statistical snapshots, but capturing the world’s health problems in the aggregate washes out the finer details. Exploring those details means getting in tight for a close-up.
Here, with the help of writers all over the world, we take a closer look at the health of the human population. What follows are eye-level reports on people in nine different countries struggling with their own medical tribulations. Some are conquering or managing their problems, others will almost certainly die an early death. All have individual stories that together make up the complex textures and colors that are the face of global health.
